Training
Search and rescue (SAR) is the search for and provision of aid to people who are in distress or imminent danger. The general field of search and rescue includes many specialty sub-fields, mostly based upon terrain considerations. These include Mountain rescue; ground search and rescue, including the use of search and rescue dogs; swift water rescue; urban search and rescue.
Success depends on the skills possessed by our members which they have acquired through the numerous and varying training opportunities offered by MOCSAR and other specialized SAR training programs. We constantly strive to keep our members prepared for any emergency which they may encounter throughout our service area and the United States.
The classes offered begin with the basics for novice team members and progress through all phases of search, recovery and rescue in any type of environment. Many of these classes are offered for a fee and are scheduled throughout the year. MOCSAR provides opportunities for in-house training and field skill practice as well.

SAR TRAINING
Introduction to Search and Rescue, ISAR/SAR TEC III - The ISAR course is designed to provide a basic knowledge, general responsibilities, skills and equipment needed by persons participating in a search and rescue mission. The course is based around rural and wilderness environments but the material provides a base knowledge for all SAR environments.
Fundamentals of Search and Rescue, FUNSAR -This second level NASAR course provides the necessary knowledge for those who are assigned to field operations during a SAR mission. This course also provides the student with practical exercises and a practice SAR mission. Participants are required to have the proper field equipment for daylight and night time operations.
Managing the Lost Person Incident, MLPI - This course teaches the essential knowledge and skills necessary to perform as the initial response Incident Commander on a lost person mission. The primary focus is on the "search" element of SAR. This course prepares students for the management and leadership skills required during SAR missions.
Advanced Search and Rescue, ADSAR - This NASAR course is designed to prepare the experienced field searcher to operate as a crew leader on SAR mission.
