About Us
Who We Are
Montgomery County Search and Rescue (MOCSAR) is a volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting law enforcement and emergency services in locating lost or missing persons in Montgomery County, Texas and surrounding jurisdictions.
Our members are trained men, women, and junior volunteers from diverse backgrounds who share a commitment to public service, teamwork, and professionalism. We respond when called upon, in all types of terrain and conditions, to help bring missing individuals home safely.

What We Do
We respond 24/7 to a wide range of search and rescue incidents, including:
- Lost, overdue or injured hikers and outdoor recreationists
- Missing children and vulnerable adults
- Urban, suburban, and wilderness search operations
- Area and evidence searches in support of investigations
Our teams operate under the direction of the requesting agency and integrate seamlessly into the Incident Command System (ICS).
MOCSAR is run entirely by volunteers who donate thousands of hours each year in support of:
- Ongoing training and certification
- Search operations and exercises
- Equipment maintenance and readiness
- Community outreach and education
Our operations are funded solely through donations, grants, and community support.

Our Mission
Our mission is to serve our community by assisting law enforcement in a coordinated effort to search, find, and rescue people in distress in the most efficient way possible.

Meet our Officers
The Board of Directors serve in their positions for two year terms after they have been elected by active MOCSAR members. The next election will be in November 2026.
