About Montgomery County Search and Rescue Team

MISSION STATEMENT

TO SERVE OUR COMMUNITY BY ASSISTING LAW ENFORCEMENT IN A COORDINATED EFFORT TO SEARCH, FIND AND RESCUE PEOPLE IN DISTRESS IN THE MOST EFFICIENT WAY POSSIBLE.

MOCSAR is an all volunteer group and is lead by a board of 5 directors elected by the total membership. Nominations are accepted in October and elections are held in November every other year. Board positions include: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Sergeant at Arms. Each director serves a 2 year term. There is also an Events Coordinator position which is elected and serves a two year term. This person spearheads the fundraising and special events for the organization.

MOCSAR team members are professionally trained volunteers that use a number of resources including specially trained search dogs, horse teams, GPS tracking devices for mapping search areas, radios for communication out in the field, specially designed water rescue boat and a mobile command center. Our team consists of nearly one hundred volunteer men, women and young adults who are all on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our volunteers work with Law Enforcement Agencies to help in various situations such as lost or missing persons, drowning victims, hiking accidents, swift water and wilderness rescue. It is the mission of search teams to identify and document clues in order to track and successfully locate missing or overdue persons involved in any of the situations listed.

We have one of the best Search and Rescue Teams in our area, and we welcome your support. Our monthly meetings are held on the last Thursday of every month at the West Montgomery County Community Development Center on Industrial Lane in Magnolia. The meetings begin at 7:30 pm and most of us begin arriving around 7:00 pm. We'll have plenty of coffee so please drop by and visit with us.

If you have a need for search and rescue services, please call your Local Law Enforcement Agency or 911 to report a missing or lost person. An investigation will be conducted and MOCSAR will be contacted if our services are needed.
